No more divers to run the train! Introduce automatic train

BERLIN: German rail company Deutsche Bahn and industrial group Siemens have jointly unveiled the world’s first automatic train in Hamburg.

According to a report by a foreign news agency, the German railway company Deutsche has teamed up with Siemens to develop an energy-efficient and more time-bound automatic train than the traditional trains, which has also been unveiled.

According to media reports, four driverless trains will join the northern German city, while the process of transporting passengers will begin in December.

Richard Lutz, Deutsche Bank’s chief executive officer (CEO), said automated trains offer “more reliable services” without laying new tracks.

The Siemens chief said the trains were “capable of carrying 30 per cent more passengers and could significantly improve punctuality”.
