The epicenter was reported 125 kilometers west of Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince, according to the foreign news agency.
The earthquake caused chaos and people fled in panic for their lives.
According to the Geological Survey, the magnitude of the earthquake was 7.2 on the Richter scale, with 227 people confirmed dead in Saturday’s earthquake.
Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry imposed a state of emergency for a month on the country after the earthquake and launched a rescue operation to evacuate people from the rubble and transport them to hospitals.
He said that some cities have been completely razed.
The Prime Minister appealed to the Haitian people for help, saying that the International Committee of the Red Cross and unaffected hospitals were treating the wounded.
