5 Unlikely Stars Who Became Parents

Every third Sunday in June, Father’s Day is celebrated, and for this 2024 the celebration fell on the 16th. Therefore, we wanted to talk about the characters who become parents but not in a “normal” or “traditional” way. But those who made the decision to build a home (often, due to the absence of an absence for themselves).

The first list we put together was quite long. And we added some characters who become father figures like Uncle Philip in The Prince of Rap. But we decided to leave these characters out because they were already parents before becoming responsible.

Thus, the list was reduced, and we leave only those who from one day to the next, without expecting it, became parents, delving into the story of five of them. At the end, they find a Special Mentions section. So, tell us what you think and who you would put on the list to celebrate Father’s Day.

1. Mr. Ping from Kung Fu Panda

There is no more beautiful character than Mr. Ping in Kung Fu Panda, a loving, noble, and gracious goose who adopts Po after being abandoned in a basket of radishes in front of his noodle restaurant. The relationship between father and son is the key to the main character and the basis of the entire film.

2. Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy

Yondu is an extremely complicated character in the movies. To begin with, it is the leader of a space flotilla of pirates who “adopts” Peter Quill to become one of his crew. And at first, it seems that the relationship between the two is purely commercial.

3. Samwell Tarly in Game of Thrones

Samwell Tarly is, along with Ned Stark, the noblest character in the series. We don’t say it lightly, comparing him to Ned is serious. But the reality is that throughout time, dangers, and changes, he remains true to his principles.

4. Din Djarin in The Mandalorian

In 2019, it premiered The Mandalorian, the first will be live action within the Star Wars universe. It is starring Din Djarin, a Mandalorian who was adopted under the Creed since he was not born on Mandalore.

5. Mr. Peabody by Mr. Peabody & Sherman

Mr. Peabody & Sherman is a 2014 animated film directed by Rob Minkoff, the same one from the animated classic The Lion King. However, the film did not receive much attention at the time of its release, but it is one of the most beautiful stories among animations of the last 10 years.
