A 19-year-old man was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for robbing a 40-year-old man of his Honda XR motorcycle at gunpoint on Camino Maldonado and Florencia.
The incident, caught on video, showed the teenager threatening the victim before fleeing on the stolen bike. Police tracked the suspect to a home in the El Renuevo settlement near Punta de Rieles, where they arrested him on Monday.
Investigation and Arrest
The investigation began the day after the robbery, when the Automotive Brigade’s Analysis and Intelligence team identified the suspect. Although police raided his residence, he was not present.
It was later discovered that the teenager had been shot in the ankle and taken to a local health center before escaping from the Hospital Pasteur without receiving treatment.
The court found him guilty of robbery and internal arms trafficking, leading to the four-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
