Martin Zubimendi’s name is on everyone’s lips this summer. The Real Sociedad midfielder sat down with Radio Nacional to discuss his future. He talked about a possible move to Real Madrid and his admiration for Xabi Alonso. Right now, though, his focus is on the Spanish national team.
Zubimendi was asked about his future plans. “There are options, but it’s going to be a long summer,” he said. “I don’t think about that now. My priority is the national team.”
A potential reunion with Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid is on the cards. Zubimendi didn’t want to comment on that, but he did praise the coach. “Xabi Alonso is my idol,” he said. “He was my coach at Real Sociedad’s B team during an important year. I don’t like talking about hypothetical situations, though. I prefer to focus on the present.”
