Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has criticized the opposition. He alleged that they are using the demand for justice for Zubeen Garg to undermine Hindu society.
Sarma also spoke against prominent writer Rita Chowdhury, wife of state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary. Chowdhury had previously condemned the standard operating procedures that limited access to Garg’s funeral site.
The Chief Minister questioned the opposition’s narrative. He asked, “Is Zubeen not a Hindu? Is Zubeen not Assamese?”
Sarma expressed his support for the ‘Nyay Yatra’ (Justice March) organized by the BJP across various districts. He affirmed his commitment to joining calls for justice once the police file a charge sheet, stating his belief in the judiciary.
The renowned singer passed away on September 19 in Singapore under mysterious circumstances. He reportedly drowned while swimming in the sea. Garg had been in the Southeast Asian country to participate in the fourth edition of the North East India Festival.
