Zubeen Garg Dies in Singapore Scuba Accident; Organizers Deny Yacht Visit Knowledge

The music world is reeling from a sudden and tragic loss. Beloved singer Zubeen Garg, a giant in Assamese music, passed away in Singapore on Friday, September 19th. He was visiting for the North East India Festival and had a performance scheduled for the very next day, September 20th. However, the festival organizers have shared a rather surprising statement about his death, seemingly stepping back from direct responsibility.

Zubeen’s untimely death came from a tragic accident while he was scuba diving. Reports indicate he had trouble breathing. The festival organizers, through a statement reported by news agency ANI, confirmed his passing. They revealed that Zubeen had just arrived in Singapore a couple of days before the accident. He was supposed to meet and chat with people at the festival.

A Yacht Trip They Didn’t Know About

The organizers’ statement got more interesting as they detailed the events leading up to the sad news. They mentioned that their team was busy with a business meeting that morning at the Shangri-La Hotel. They were talking with senior Singaporean business leaders and government officials. The goal was to help bring investment to Northeast India.

It was during this meeting that they got a call from Zubeen’s manager. The manager shared the shocking news that an accident had happened. Zubeen was being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. The organizers then claimed they found out about a yacht trip. Some local Assamese community members had apparently taken Zubeen on this outing. The festival team insists they had no prior warning or information about this yacht visit.

Festival Called Off Amidst Grief

Once they heard the news, the festival team immediately went to the hospital. They have been working closely with the High Commission to handle all the necessary procedures. The organizers expressed their deep sorrow, saying it was an “irreplaceable loss.” They admitted their grief was hard to put into words.
