With the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, video calling apps have become commonplace for many people in the work or school context. From there, platforms like Zoom emerged, practically unknown until then.
This claims to have the mission of bringing happiness to people, virtually uniting them. With millions of users around the world, Zoom claims to want to keep growing and announces a measure that may not be suitable for all users.
Ads are the next step on the Zoom home page
In a statement, the platform announces a pilot advertising program. He hopes to support a higher investment and thus continue to provide quality service to users of the free plan.
“For this initial program, ads will only run on the browser page that users see when they close the meeting. Only users of the free Basic plan in certain countries will see these announcements if they participate in meetings generated by other users of the free Basic plan, ”a statement read.
The image above exemplifies where the ads will be placed. They promise not to tweak your experience during calls. “The content of the meeting, webinar or message (specifically, audio, video, files and messages) will not be used for third-party marketing, promotion or advertising purposes,” guarantees Zoom.
With these ads, Zoom can still have a free plan, with ads promising not to affect your experience in the process. It will undoubtedly be a measure criticized by some users, but that others may not even realize.
