Puerto Rican music fans are sending well wishes to Félix Gerardo Ortiz, known to the world as Zion. He’s one half of the famous duo Zion & Lennox. Zion recently suffered a traffic accident in Puerto Rico. His team and family first said his medical condition was “reserved.” They later shared a hopeful update this Thursday.
“Zion continues to recover well,” a statement on Instagram read. “He trusts completely that God is in control. He hopes to be fully recovered soon. This will let him enjoy and fulfill his duties. It’s a big moment with his new album ‘The Perfect Melody 2’ coming out.” The statement also noted that Zion stays positive and focused. His only goal is to get back on stage.
Dr. Israel Ayala, who leads the medical services where Zion is staying, spoke to Telemundo Puerto Rico. He shared that the artist has “multiple serious traumas.” Still, his condition is stable despite how serious his injuries are.
Zion began his music journey in 2000. Just a year later, he teamed up with Gabriel Pizarro, known as Lennox. Together, they formed Zion & Lennox. Many artists like Wisin y Yandel, Daddy Yankee, and Don Omar were already big names in urban music. The new duo from Puerto Rico worked hard to find their own sound.
The Song That Launched Zion & Lennox to Stardom
In mid-2004, the duo released their first studio album, “Motivando a la Yal.” It had 18 songs. Three tracks really stood out. One song, “Yo Voy,” featuring Daddy Yankee, made them famous. This track has over 148 million views on YouTube.
The album was a huge success, also featuring hits like “Bandida” and “Doncella.” Zion & Lennox then went on tour. They played in cities like Miami, Orlando, and New York. They even graced big stages like Madison Square Garden and the Miami Arena.

Why the Duo Parted Ways in 2024
The duo saw a first temporary split in 2006. This happened after their record label contract ended. Two years later, they announced their official return. They even worked on their first studio album under ‘Luny Tunes,’ a huge name in reggaeton production.
After more than ten years of music hits and three albums, Zion announced his separation from the duo on November 13, 2024. Félix Ortiz posted on Instagram to explain his decision. He said he wanted to move forward with his own personal and professional goals. He shared this publicly to stop rumors that had already started. These rumors began when Lennox was seen performing alone.
Despite the split, the pair showed they’re still on good terms. They were seen together at one of Bad Bunny’s Residency concerts in Puerto Rico. This showed the good relationship they built over years in the music business.
