- The Zimbabwe team is part of Group B at the T20 World Cup
Zimbabwe squad announced for T20 World Cup: Zimbabwe have announced their squad for the T20 World Cup starting next month. The Zimbabwe squad will participate in the 2022 T20 World Cup to be held in Australia alongside their former captain. Captain Craig Ervine has returned to the team for this world event after being fit after a hamstring injury. Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Mujarbani has also been included in the 15-member Zimbabwe squad.
Many players joined the team after getting fit after injury.
Tendai Chatara, Wellington Masakadza and Milton Shumba have all been included in the Zimbabwe squad following injury. At the same time, in order to make the fast bowling attack sharper, Mujarbani has also been called back to the team. Chatara has returned to the team after a broken collarbone. We report that Mujarbani was part of the team during Zimbabwe’s recent tour of Australia but from there he returned without playing a game. Masakadza has returned to the team from a shoulder injury, while Shumba has recovered from a quadriceps injury and moved up to full-back.
Tadiwanase Marumani, Innocent Kaiya, Kevin Kasuja, Victor Nyuchi and Tanaka Chiwanga have been named to the team as reserve players.
Zimbabwe in Group B
Zimbabwe are drawn into Group B in the first round and will open their T20 World Cup campaign with a match against Ireland at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on October 17. Teams from the West Indies and Scotland are also included in this group.
Zimbabwe will play two practice matches against Sri Lanka and Namibia on October 10 and 13 before the start of the tournament.
