Zeno Debast is riding high these days. The young defender has truly cemented his spot in Sporting’s starting lineup. He’s also a key player for Belgium, often called the Red Devils. He played every minute in two big wins for Belgium. The Red Devils scored six goals against both Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan.
Yesterday, Belgium crushed the Azeris. After that big win, the 21-year-old center-back talked to the Belgian press. He shared a refreshing change he’s noticed within the national team. There’s a much more upbeat and “positive” vibe now, he said. The team had a really tough year before this. Now, Rudi Garcia leads the squad.
“Things have felt much better in recent months,” Debast pointed out. “We need to keep pushing forward on this path. Getting better as a team is good for everyone.” He strongly believes in the group’s potential. “We have a very talented team,” he added. Players are getting noticed. This happens not only with the national team but also at their clubs. “And that, in the end, is really important for the national team.”
