Andriy Yermak, a powerful aide and key negotiator for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has resigned following an anti-corruption agency search of his residence in Kyiv, sparking a leadership reshuffle amid intensifying U.S. demands for peace talks.
President Zelensky announced Yermak’s resignation, confirming the departure of a 54-year-old figure considered one of his closest confidantes. The search of Yermak’s home in a central district of Kyiv took place on November 28, 2025.
This shake-up comes as the United States has reportedly pressured Ukraine to finalize a peace agreement, nearly four years into the ongoing conflict with Russia. Yermak’s exit is seen as a significant disruption to the presidential office’s power structure and could affect future negotiation strategies.
Zelensky stated his intention to “reorganize the presidential office” to safeguard internal unity during a critical period for the nation. He emphasized that Ukraine’s defense remains the country’s sole priority.
Yermak’s spokesperson clarified that anti-corruption agencies have not filed any charges, and Yermak is not currently considered a suspect. The reason for the search was not communicated to him.
Yermak confirmed on Telegram that he fully cooperated with the authorities, accompanied by his lawyers.
He played a critical role in the presidential administration and in diplomatic efforts, having been recently tasked by Zelensky to oversee major discussions with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump concerning a new peace accord.
President Zelensky indicated that consultations to appoint a new head of the presidential office would commence this Saturday.
