Zelensky Slams US Silence on Russian Drone, Missile Strikes

The world watches as Russia unleashes its largest air attack on Ukraine in a single night. The assault, which included drones and missiles, left at least 12 people dead, including three children, and many more injured. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is calling out the US for its silence, saying it’s equivalent to supporting Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Deadly Air Assault

The attack started on Saturday at 8:40 pm and continued into Sunday. Russia fired various types of missiles and sent over 367 drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into Ukraine. The Ukrainian air force managed to destroy 45 missiles and 266 UAVs, but 22 areas were still hit.

Previous Attack

Just the night before, Russia had launched its biggest attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, since the war began. The assault left 13 people dead, over 50 injured, and several buildings on fire.

Zelensky says Russia’s brutality won’t stop without strong pressure on Putin. He criticizes the US for its inaction, saying their silence is encouraging Putin. Analysts believe Zelensky is calling for tougher sanctions, which the US has not yet imposed.

Former US President Donald Trump had previously suggested using diplomacy to convince Russia to stop fighting. However, aside from one direct conversation between Ukraine and Russia in Turkey, there has been little progress in ending the conflict. Trump has expressed growing frustration, but so far, his efforts have been unsuccessful.
