Zelensky holds meeting to coordinate the border with Belarus

Kiev (BLAZETRENDS).- The Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelenski, today held a coordination meeting in the city of Lutsk, in the extreme north-west of Ukraine, to discuss, among other issues, the strengthening of the border with Belarus.

“Lutsk, Lubart Castle, long coordination meeting on the security and social situation in the Volhynia region,” he wrote in a message on Twitter.

Among the points discussed were in the first place the border and the situation in the border area with Belarus, he said.

“Second: strengthening our Defense and Security Forces and the entire northern section of the border, in each region. They reported the military, law enforcement and local authorities, ”he added.

Concern with Belarus has grown both in Ukraine and in several Western countries after it became known that the mercenaries of the Wagner Group were going to move to that country, after the failure of the uprising on June 24, for which they are preparing a camp with a capacity for 5,000 troops that can also house combat machines.

Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko emphasized that the Wagner Group is the “most experienced in combat” unit and that “it can serve the defense of Belarus if the country is attacked”, but assured that no one will be attacked from Belarusian territory, including Ukraine

Refugees, budgets and work

In the coordination meeting held today by Zelenski, the state of the shelters, the budget and jobs were discussed, he said.

“I am grateful to everyone in the region who is working to bring our victory closer!”, concludes the message.

Zelensky participated this morning in Lutsk together with his Polish counterpart, Adrzej Duda, in an ecumenical service in the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul to honor the victims of the Volhynian massacre committed 80 years ago by Ukrainian nationalist insurgents and which cost the lives of tens of thousands of ethnic Polish civilians.

“During the events in Lutsk, Duda and I had a brief but very substantial conversation about the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius. We agreed to work together to get the best possible outcome for Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote.
