Yunnan Ex-Vice Governor Jailed Life for 122 Million Yuan Bribery.

Justice has finally caught up with a former top official, who now faces a lifetime behind bars. This comes after he was found guilty of taking an astounding amount of money in bribes. The total was more than 122 million yuan, which is over 600 million Thai baht.

The Chongqing Municipality No. 1 Intermediate People’s Court handed down the sentence to Zhang Zhulin. He once served as the Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province in the southwestern part of the country. The court declared that Zhang’s political rights are gone forever. All of his personal property will be seized, and any money he gained illegally must be given back to the government.

Investigators found that Zhang Zhulin used his powerful position for over two decades, from 2001 to 2023. He helped various people and companies. These favors included giving them advantages in real estate development, securing project contracts, getting project approvals, and even helping them get loans from banks. In exchange for these services, Zhang received large sums of cash and other valuables.

This high-profile case went to an open trial on April 10. The court then delivered its final verdict this week, as reported by Xinhua News Agency on June 27, 2025. This strong ruling serves as another clear example of China’s firm stance against corruption. The government has kept up a steady and strict anti-corruption push for the past ten years.
