Reportedly, Yuga Labs plans to launch another brand new NFT collection later this year: Mecha Apes.
Collect money and release virtual plots
With the new collection, the creators of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) plan to raise $50 million. They also want to release 100,000 virtual plots.
This has sparked speculation among the BAYC community. Some pointed out that the rumor is consistent with a leaked Yuga Labs pitch deck, which includes a 2022 roadmap for the Otherside metaverse. The figure below shows that a project called ‘Ultimate Mecha Ape’ was due to launch in September.
The Otherside project
The Otherside-Metaverse project was announced last April. Yuga sold 100,000 parcels of digital land at the time and made a total of $600 million from this project.
A little before launch, however, a Yuga Labs pitch deck surfaced. This 90-page file revealed a lot about the Otherside project and its plans for the future. However, it is worth noting that not every point on the roadmap has been followed. The team has achieved several milestones, including the launch of the $APE token, the sale of land and the unveiling of Kodas as planned.
With Ultimate Mecha Ape on the list, many can’t help but speculate that these new NFTs, when they go live, will be closely related to the Otherside ecosystem. However, not many details are known about the potentially new NFTs. At this point, no one really knows what a Mecha Ape looks like, or what his role in the Otherside is exactly.
However, it wouldn’t be the first time Yuga has been secretive about his new ventures. Yuga co-founder Garga has already indicated that the leaked roadmap would be outdated. He has also denied the rumors about the Mecha Apes. However, this could be to generate more hype for the new NFT collection. There is no official launch date yet and therefore no guarantee that Mecha Apes will actually launch.
