Yucatan Vehicle Plate Replacement Required for Eligible Cars in March

With the aim of coordinating the Yucatan replacement, the “Put on the day” plan is in place. So, if you’re looking for information for this March, these are the cars that must make the change of plates. Essentially, the plan allows you to regularize your vehicular situation and comply with this obligation, which is necessary due to the increasing population and the subsequent rise in the number of cars, requiring better control and management.

Who are obliged to participate in replacement in March?

The change of plates through the “Put up a day” program enables you to regularize your vehicular situation. Since the population is growing, so is the number of cars, making it necessary to have better control and management. The change of plates also aims to improve security and standardize designs. For better management and ease in the process, the replacement is divided into two stages.

You can get discounts for 5 months if you replace your plates during the first stage.

Now, who should replace in March? This process will be done for those who do not have plates from the 2020 edition. This includes cars with older plates and those who wish to register vehicles from other states. From March to May, it will be specifically for those who do not have debts or need ownership changes.

These will be the stages of replacement in Yucatan and its benefits

As mentioned, to improve and facilitate the process, it has been divided into two stages:

First stage (January-May of 2025)

During this phase, the program focuses on facilitating the regularization of vehicles that need to make ownership changes, incorporating units from other states to the Yucatan vehicle registration, or paying off pending debts. This stage is already underway and represents a unique opportunity to take advantage of the discounts offered.

Second stage (June-December 2025)

In this period, the general change of plates for all vehicles that require them will take place. The drivers who have already fulfilled the procedures must only collect the new plates, which will have advanced security elements and modern technologies.

But the main thing to make your plate change in time is that you get great benefits. For example, if you make the change in the first stage, you will get a 100% discount on the change of owner, a 75% discount on fines of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), and a free change of the 2020 edition plates for the new sheets corresponding to the design and regulations of 2025 (to be held from June).

How to do the process of change of plates and what requirements do I need?

The procedure is very simple and accessible. You only need to access the Official Portal Procedures.yucatan.gob.mx, complete the form, attach the requested documents, and send the process for review. You can select the date, place, and time to remove your plates or do it in person and bring the following requirements:
– Current official identification (INE, passport, or license)
– Proof of recent domicile (light receipt, water, or property tax)
– Vehicle circulation card
– Current plates
– Vehicle insurance policy
– Vehicle billing (if applied) or invoice letter
– In case of change of owner, a document that accredits the transfer of the property
– Receipt from the payment of the latest vehicular possession
– If there have been modifications in the engine, the engine invoice must be presented
– In cases of theft, Ministerial Act of Recovery and Office of Liberation

In addition, if you have a registered vehicle in another state and you want to incorporate it into the Yucatan vehicular registration, you must follow these additional steps:
– Make the low plates in the original state, making sure to liquidate fines or debts
– Present the documents required in Yucatan’s care modules

You have from January 27 to May 31, 2025, for the first stage, and you can take advantage of the benefits offered in the change of Yucatan plates, up to 100% with these requirements. If you are not up to date with your vehicle, now is the time to regularize it before the sanctions enter into force.
