YouTube now allows monetization of videos of breastfeeding women

Content creators on YouTube who shared breastfeeding videos have been unable to monetize their content…until now!

The video sharing platform is Easing restrictions on who is eligible to make money from their YouTube videos.

YouTube has updated its policies to allow users to earn revenue from videos containing breastfeeding scenes. However, there are certain conditions.

In order for breastfeeding videos to be monetized, creators must meet the following requirements:

  • A child must be present.
  • Creators’ nipples may be exposed or visible as long as they are breastfeeding or demonstrating the use of a breast pump.
  • Content should include contextual references to breastfeeding, e.g. B. a child who is about to breastfeed or is actively breastfeeding.

In other words, creators can show their areolas, but YouTube only allows monetization if the scene features a baby and is related to breastfeeding.

 

Why did YouTube change its mind?

YouTube listened to feedback from users who expressed that breastfeeding videos are helpful for parents looking for help navigating the early days of parenting.

We’ve received feedback that breastfeeding videos are a helpful resource for many parents as they navigate this phase of parenthood. We hope these changes will give all creators more space to share this type of content and the opportunity to earn advertising revenue.

As YouTube loosens its restrictions on breastfeeding content, more YouTubers are likely to offer educational content to give new parents the tools they need to approach parenthood.
