Upon arrival, responders found the young man unconscious and suffering from hypothermia. He was immediately transported to a nearby health center, where he was sedated, intubated, and later referred to the CTI in the city of Rocha.
Circumstances Surrounding the Incident
According to reports, the young man, a native of Minas, had traveled to La Pedrera with friends for a vacation. He had gone for a walk on the beach and decided to swim, but was unable to withstand the conditions.
