Actress Hema Malini’s personal life had become a point of debate after she married Dharmendra. Actually, this was Dharmendra’s second marriage. She married Prakash Kaur in 1954. Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur have four children, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajita Deol and Vijeta Deol. After this Dharmendra fell in love with Hema Malini and they got married in the year 1980.
In an interview with Simi Grewal, Hema Malini said that it was not easy for her to marry him. Her family members were against this marriage. He had said in the interview: no father would want such a marriage for his daughter. But at that moment it was very difficult for me to make another decision.
Hema Malini further said, “I was very close to him (Dharmendra). We were together for a long time. So it was wrong to suddenly think of marrying someone else. That’s why I told him – now you have to marry me. To this he said: Yes, I’ll marry you. That’s how we got married. ,
Dharmendra married Hema Malini without divorcing Prakash Kaur. Dharmendra reportedly married Hema Malini after converting to Islam. After marriage, Hema Malini stays away from Prakash Kaur and her children. Hema Malini has said in the interview that she doesn’t want to disturb Dharmendra’s first family, so she stays away from him. She though she has said that she respects Prakash Kaur a lot.
