This Wednesday, Samsung formally introduced the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. These are the new smartwatches from the South Korean manufacturer, and they mark a new era for several reasons.
The main new feature is that they come with the previously announced Wear operating system. For the first time, Samsung has partnered with Google to develop the operating system and wants exclusivity.
Galaxy Watch 4 is not compatible with Apple’s iOS
If you have an iPhone, the new Galaxy Watch 4 is not really for you. Why? A close look at the specification list on Samsung’s official website reveals changes in compatibility.
This means that the new models will only be compatible with the Android operating system. If you are thinking of buying a Galaxy Watch 3 or earlier, things will not change and the compatibility remains.
As you can read from the screenshot taken from the official Samsung website, you need a smartphone running Android 6.0 or higher for the Galaxy Watch 4 to be compatible. Also, it must have at least 1.5 GB of RAM and be compatible with Google services. Therefore, Huawei smartphones without this compatibility should also be avoided.
The Apple Watch has always been compatible only with Apple products, and Samsung is now following a similar path. For those with an iPhone, it is a less viable option, although in the price range of the Galaxy Watch 4, there are high-quality Apple Watch models.
The Samsung Galaxy 4 arrives in Portugal from € 269.90 in the Bluetooth version. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic starts, in our country, from € 369.90.
