Yonkaira, Gaila and Martínez give the Dominican victory over Germany

The national volleyball team won its second victory in a row in the League of Nations this Sunday by beating the German team 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-11 and 27-27), in the conclusion of the Group 3, which is now on hiatus until the 28th.

It is recalled that last Friday the Caribbeans had a close match in five sets against the Netherlands (Holland) in a great volleyball match.

The Dominicans’ attack was led by Yonkaira Peña with 19 points, followed by Gaila González with 17, Jineirys Martínez contributed 16 points and Brayelin Martínez left with nine points.

In the lost cause, for Germany, Hanna Orthann was the best with 22 points, although she could not avoid the defeat of her country, and Luna Alsmeier finished with 11 points.

Now the Dominican Republic has a record of three wins and five losses in the Nations League.

In this leg, they only lost to the Italian team, as they achieved wins against Korea, Holland and Germany.

The criollas won the first two sets with good attacks from Yonkaira Peña, Gaila González and Jineirys Martínez and a good defense and good setbacks from Yineirys Rodríguez and Niverka Marte.

In the third, the Germans recovered and took advantage of their opponents’ errors to get their first sets.

RD will rest until 28

The women’s round of the League of Nations recesses to make way for the Men’s League and the women will return on the 28th of this month.

The Dominican Republic will now travel to Sofia, Bulgaria, where they will have their first match on the 28th against the hosts Bulgaria at 19:00 pm.
