Yemen’s prison not attacked, Arab League

The pro-constitutional Arab League in Yemen confirmed on Friday that coalition forces had not targeted a jail in the Yemeni capital, Saada.

According to the Arab League, it will provide all the facts and detailed information to the joint team regarding the prison attack.

A spokesman for the Arab Coalition Forces, Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, said that rumors circulating about an attack on the Saada prison by the Houthi militia were being used by the Houthi militia for their own military purposes. Are misleading the world.

He said the Arab Coalition Forces and the Joint Chiefs of Staff apply the highest standards of warfare.

The official spokesman for the coalition forces, Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, said that in addition to the statement issued by the coalition’s Joint Forces Command (January 22, 2022), the Iranian-backed Houthi militia claimed that the coalition had set up a prison in Saada. Targeting is definitely fabricated and baseless.

Before 27 January 2022, the Joint Forces Joint Investigation Team has launched an investigation into rumors of an attack on Saada Jail. We are also gathering more details and information in this regard which will be presented to the Commission of Inquiry into this incident.

He said information was also being exchanged with the Red Cross Committee to investigate Houthi militia claims regarding the attack on Saada prison.

In response to a question, Brigadier General Al-Maliki said that four places have been identified in Saada which have been decided not to be attacked by the Joint Forces. These include city prisons, but the Houthi militia uses prisons for its terrorist purposes.

He said the building targeted in Saada was 1.8 kilometers from the jail, which was being used for military and combat purposes.

One week ago, at least 100 people were killed and more than 150 were injured in a Saudi coalition airstrike on a detention center in Yemen.
