Yastrzemski and lead Giants to complete sweep of Rockies

Mike Yastrzemski homered and John Brebbia pitched an inning in his second start of the series as the San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 3-0 Thursday, swept in all four meetings.

Five relievers followed Brebbia on the mound, for a combined 10-hit shutout. Jharel Cotton (3-2) pitched 2 2-3 innings for the win in his first major league appearance since being acquired Sunday after being waived by Minnesota.

Camilo Doval got three outs and earned his 24th save.

Brebbia also worked a blank episode on Tuesday, when he started the game that the Giants won 6-3. The previous Giants pitcher who had started two games in the same series had been Dominic Leone, in September 2021, against the San Diego Padres.

Before Leone, the last Giants pitcher to start two games in a series was Gaylord Perry, on July 3-6, 1969, against the Atlanta Braves.

For the Giants, the Venezuelan Thairo Estrada 4-0. Mexican Luis González 4-2 with a run scored.

For the Rockies, Venezuelan Yonathan Daza 4-2. The Dominican Elehuris Montero 4-1.

For the Athletics, Puerto Rican Vimael Machín 4-1 with a run scored. Colombian Jordan Diaz 4-0.
