The stage is set for India’s highly anticipated Test series in England, scheduled to kick off on the 20th of this month. Before the main event, the Indian A team is facing off against the England Lions. The second unofficial Test match between the two teams got off to a dramatic start. Yashasvi Jaiswal, one of India’s promising young batsmen, was given out LBW to Chris Woakes, and he wasn’t happy about it.
Jaiswal was going strong, having scored 17 runs off 25 balls, when Woakes’ delivery hit his pad. The umpire raised his finger, and Jaiswal was left stunned. He stood his ground for a while, clearly disagreeing with the decision. As seen in a tweet by cricket journalist Ali Martin, Jaiswal’s reaction suggested he didn’t think it was out.
This incident occurred in the seventh over of the Indian A team’s innings. Jaiswal attempted to flick a full delivery but missed, and the ball hit his pad. After being given out, he took his time leaving the field, making his displeasure clear. It took him around 10 seconds to finally start walking back to the pavilion.
Despite the controversy, the Indian A team had a great first day, scoring 319 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. KL Rahul was the star of the show, scoring a century on the first day of the tour. His 116 runs came off 168 balls and included 15 fours and a six. Rahul’s partnerships with Karun Nair (40) and Dhruv Jurel (52) helped the team recover from a shaky start. The Indian A team will look to build on this strong foundation as they take on the England Lions in the rest of the match.
