Judge was reinstated from the disabled list this afternoon after being sidelined with a toe ligament tear. The outfielder was banged up in early June when he made a spectacular catch at Dodger Stadium.
While the addition of Judge adds power to a lineup that has been anemic without the captain, New Yorkers need a lot more than the Judge’s stick to become contenders for the next World Series.
As bad as they may be, history tells us that the New York Yankees have rarely become a seller before the trade deadline. With a winning DNA, the organization with the most World Series titles will go on the market to get talent that can shore up its artillery.

Thomas, 27, should have represented the Nationals in the last All-Star Game as he is having a great season with numbers .293/.341/.486 with 16 home runs and 54 RBIs.
And before you freak out who we’re giving up, the key to this is giving up some prospects. remember, the Yankees can’t give up, so they can’t afford to give away solid players on their active roster. If they did, they would be considered sellers, which they are not.
DETERMINING SERIES
The Yankees face the Baltimore Orioles starting this afternoon in a three-game commitment.
The Big Apple team will have right-hander Clarke Schmidt (6-6, 4.33) as starter. He is targeting his fifth straight win and hasn’t been beaten since June 6.
Schmidt took the loss on May 25 in a 3–1 home loss to Baltimore when he allowed one run in five innings. He has a 2-2 record with a 4.09 ERA in eight career games (three starts) against the Orioles.
New York rode a six-game skid against the top two teams in the AL East. They are back at home against Tampa Bay Monday through Wednesday.
The Yankees are 35-14 in Baltimore since 2018, including two wins in three games this year (April 7-9).
