A disturbing incident occurred near the port of Punta del Este when the engine of a yacht suddenly exploded, resulting in second-degree burns to three individuals, including a 13-year-old child and two adults. According to reports from the National Fire Department, the explosion happened in the early afternoon on Saturday.
The incident unfolded as the yacht was sailing near the port, with the engine blast being followed by a fire inside the boat’s engine. Firefighters were quick to respond and investigate the situation upon the boat’s arrival at the port. Due to a fuel spill, they had to cordon off an area as a precautionary measure.
The three injured individuals received medical attention from personnel on the scene and were subsequently referred to health centers for further treatment. The 13-year-old boy suffered burns on his right arm and right leg, while the two adult men had burns on their legs, backs, and shoulders.
