Android makers are slow to have tools on their computers to protect them in case they are lost or stolen. In that sense, with the ‘Search’ function, Apple is still the benchmark.
In a MIUIes discovery, it is now known that Xiaomi is preparing to implement a feature on its smartphones to protect them against theft. Everything will change when your team card is withdrawn.
Removing the SIM card from your Xiaomi can put the smartphone in ‘lost’ mode
So far, if the SIM card is removed from your Android device, it could be the end of the line when it comes to getting it back. But with this function, whoever withdraws the card will have to prove that they know the unlock code.
As you can see from the shared image, if your smartphone is locked and the SIM card is removed, it will start vibrating for 30 seconds. From that moment on, the code must be confirmed at that moment, or the “lost” mode will be activated.
In this way, it will theoretically be impossible to access the data or use the equipment. And this is true, even if you try to factory reset, which will not give results.
As revealed by this source, the functionality was found in version 21.10.14 of the Beta version of the Chinese MIUI ROM. So the safest will only reach all users on MIUI 13 in 2022.
What is unclear is whether it will still be possible for the smartphone owner to find the device in this way. Although in case of theft it can become unusable for the thief, finding it will always be the most important thing.
