Xiaomi is making waves in the auto world. At the company’s 15th anniversary, CEO Lei Jun unveiled the YU7, an electric SUV with a whopping 835 km range.
The YU7 is built on Xiaomi’s Modena platform, measuring 4999 mm long, 1996 mm wide, and 1608 mm tall. It comes in nine exterior colors and weighs between 2140 kg and 2460 kg, depending on the config. You can get 19 or 20-inch wheels.
What’s Under the Hood?
The YU7 has three powertrain options:
- YU7 RWD: single rear motor, 235 kW, 528 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 5.88 seconds, top speed 240 km/h.
- YU7 Pro AWD: dual motors, 365 kW, 690 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 4.27 seconds, top speed 240 km/h.
- YU7 Max AWD: dual motors, 508 kW, 866 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, top speed 253 km/h.
These motors are supplied by United Automotive Electronics. The Max version uses a 220 kW front motor and a 295 kW rear motor.
Safety Features
The YU7 has a reinforced battery pack with a bulletproof shell. Xiaomi did over 50 passive safety tests. The A and B pillars are also structurally improved. All YU7 variants come with LiDAR sensors and the Nvidia Drive AGX Thor (700 TOPS), along with a 4D mmWave radar and anti-reflective cameras with ALD coating.
The YU7 uses Xiaomi’s in-house developed end-to-end assisted driving system, a key part of its auto development strategy.
As for charging, all variants use Xiaomi’s 800 V silicon carbide high-voltage platform and V6s Plus motors, allowing 5.2 C charging speeds. This means you can add up to 620 km of range in just 15 minutes.
Battery configs and estimated ranges are:
- RWD: 96.3 kWh LFP battery, 835 km range
- Pro AWD: 96.3 kWh LFP battery, 770 km range
- Max AWD: 101.7 kWh NCM battery, 760 km range
CEO Lei Jun shared these details on the company’s 15th anniversary, following the success of the SU7, which has sold over 258,000 units since its launch last March. The YU7 is the latest addition to Xiaomi’s growing auto catalog.
