Countertpoint Research has already revealed data on the smartphone market in Europe during the third quarter of 2021. There was great expectation to see how Xiaomi would grow and if it could threaten the leadership of Samsung. The growth is real, but Samsung still dominates.
The following table shows a leading Samsung with a market share of 30.4%. But that advantage is shortened for the two main competitors: Xiaomi and Apple. This is because a year ago it had 35.8%, having recorded losses of 16%.
Xiaomi has a 23.6% market share in Europe. It is followed by Apple with 22.1%
As expected, Xiaomi has registered a growth of 51% compared to a year ago. In the third quarter of 2020 it has a market share of 15.5%, now with 23.6%. This growth alone is not greater due to the shortage of components.
The podium closes with Apple, which a year ago had a market share of 17.6%, and now has 22.1%. The Cupertino manufacturer registers an increase of 24% compared to the previous year and 5% compared to the previous quarter.
Also stands out on this Oppo list. It now has a 10.1% market share in Europe, up from 4.7% a year ago. In this way, there was a growth of 112%.
Huawei and Honor almost disappeared from the TOP 10 in Europe
Both Honor and Huawei suffered colossal drops in the space of a year. If a year ago Huawei still had 8.1% of the market share, now it only has 0.5%. Honor has the same 0.5%, when a year ago it had 4.8%. We will see how the rebirth of Honor will be in Europe, after it launched a smartphone with Google services in October.
An important note is that Xiaomi’s figures also include Redmi and POCO sales. Oppo numbers also include OnePlus.
