Xiaomi: this will be the price of the company’s first electric car

It is no secret that Xiaomi is preparing to enter the electric car market. The first step was taken with the founding of Xiaomi Automobile Co and with a million-dollar injection of capital over the next ten years.

But what everyone wants to know is what to expect from this electric vehicle. Although we still do not have official information, it is already speculated how much this car could reach the market.

Xiaomi’s electric car could start from the equivalent of €35,700

According to information provided by the Chinese platform Jiemian.com, Xiaomi’s first electric car will start at the equivalent of just over €35,700. It should be noted that these are the figures for the Chinese market.

According to sources close to Xiaomi, the company is said to be developing two models of its first car. The base model will start from the values already mentioned, while the second could go up to the equivalent of €48,000.

This project is known internally as Modena and will bring two new electric vehicles to the streets. The former will arrive with a 400V platform, while the latter will have 800V.

There is little information about the characteristics of these vehicles, but everyone seems to be unanimous in saying that they will have autonomous driving technology. This seems to be an essential detail for all companies that want to stand up to Tesla.

To achieve this purpose, Xiaomi must rely on sensors developed by Qualcomm and Nvidia Orin X. These will be essential for the proper functioning of the intelligent functions of this car.

Xiaomi’s first electric car will be, according to rumors, a midsize sedan and its presentation could take place as early as 2023. Even so, its commercial production should only start in 2024.

The Jiemian.com platform also speculates that Xiaomi will have a second vehicle in development. This is known internally as Le Mans and could be unveiled in 2025.

This model should have three electric motors and the same architecture as the Modena. But, for now, it is too soon to delve into what Xiaomi will be preparing for the future of his cars.
