Xiaomi is the 29th most innovative company in the world, according to BCG
The Chinese manufacturer is ranked 29th in this ranking, having risen two places compared to the previous year. The brand emphasizes that it prioritizes innovation and that this translates into practical results.
During the first quarter of 2023 alone, Xiaomi’s research and development spending increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 4.1 billion yuan (about 539,847 euros).
It is also worth noting that the number of employees reached about 16,500 in the research and development area. Something that the brand claims to be more than 50% of Xiaomi employees. Also as of March 31, the brand had already registered more than 32,000 patents. By 2023, Xiaomi intends to make a total investment in research and development of 20,000 million yuan (about 2,633,400 euros).
This BCG ranking is based on a survey of more than 1,000 global innovative executives, surveyed between December 2022 and January 2023. It assesses companies in four categories: Global Mindset, Industry Peer View, Industry Disruption, and Value Creation.
Apple tops BCG rankings
This annual ranking of innovation has been published by BCG since 2003. The list is headed by Apple, with Tesla and Amazon closing the podium. Alphabet (which owns Google) ranks fourth, followed by Microsoft in fifth or Samsung in seventh.
