Xiaomi Redmi Turbo 5 Series Teased With 9,000 mAh Battery, 100W Charging

Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is poised to introduce a device in its upcoming Redmi Turbo 5 series featuring a groundbreaking 9,000 mAh battery, signaling a significant advancement in mobile power technology driven by Silicon-Carbon cells.

The anticipated capacity, revealed by prominent Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on the social media platform Weibo, would establish a new benchmark for smartphone endurance. This single-cell silicon battery is reportedly ready for mass production, according to the same source. This technological leap is attributed to Silicon-Carbon battery advancements. The innovation allows for higher energy density without increasing the physical size of the battery itself.

Many Chinese smartphone models, such as the OnePlus 15, vivo X300 series, and OPPO Find X9 series, already incorporate Silicon-Carbon batteries, offering capacities between 6,000 and 7,000 mAh. In contrast, smartphones available in the United States and Europe typically feature lower battery capacities. This difference is often due to varying safety regulations.

The Redmi Turbo 5 series is expected to launch between December 2025 and January 2026. While the base Redmi Turbo 5 model may feature a 6.6-inch, 1.5K flat display and a 7,500 mAh battery, the 9,000 mAh capacity is believed to be reserved for higher-tier variants like the Redmi 5 Turbo Pro or Pro Max.

The base model is reported to utilize MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 8500 chipset. This 4-nanometer chip boasts processing speeds up to 3.40 GHz and has scored over 2 million points on the AnTuTu performance platform. The Redmi Turbo 5 Pro is anticipated to run on the forthcoming Dimensity 9500e, a 3-nanometer chip with speeds up to 3.73 GHz, or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, offering speeds up to 4.61 GHz.

Digital Chat Station previously indicated that several manufacturers have tested 10,000 mAh smartphone batteries, referencing concept devices such as the realme GT 10,000 mAh. This trend underscores a growing consumer demand for extended battery life. Users increasingly require larger batteries to support high-processing applications like artificial intelligence and intensive gaming throughout the day.
