Xiaomi today held an event in China for the presentation of several new products. One of the surprises of this event was the presentation of a new Android tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4.
As you may have already noticed, this is not the new generation of tablets promised by Xiaomi, but rather an improvement over the model launched in 2021. In fact, the new product has slight improvements that make it even more desirable.
Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 improves some aspects of its predecessor
The most obvious difference between the tablet presented today and its predecessor is its size. Now with a 12.4-inch screen, the new Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro is naturally larger than the one the Chinese company unveiled in the summer of 2021.
Its front has not changed, which means that we continue to have a panel with very small edges that gives it greater elegance. It also features LCD technology, 2.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10, and Dolby Vision.
However, it is at the back where we find the main aesthetic difference from the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4. Strictly speaking, in its rear camera module inspired by the philosophy introduced by Xiaomi 12 smartphones and now with three sensors compared to the two of the original model.
Indeed, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 comes with a 50 MP main lens accompanied by two 2 MP resolution depth lenses each. On the front we have a 20 MP sensor for video calls.
Its processor is still the Snapdragon 870
The interior of the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 does not bring great news either when purchased with the model launched a year ago. Starting with its Snapdragon 870 processor, which is still an excellent SoC, capable of performing all tasks without difficulty.
We have various memory schemes starting with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. For the most demanding, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 can reach up to 12 GB of RAM accompanied by 512 GB of internal memory.
Thanks to its bigger body, Xiaomi has managed to pack an even bigger battery into the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4. This one brings with it a large 10000 mAh cell which will certainly be enough for many hours of work or leisure.
When the power goes out, 68 minutes will be enough to fully recharge the battery of the new Chinese Android tablet. This is possible thanks to its fast charging technology with speeds of 67 W.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 will be available in three colors: black, silver and green. The base version of this new Android tablet will hit Chinese stores for the equivalent of €401. Its variant with 12 GB of RAM and 512 of storage will cost €574
Whether Xiaomi plans to make this new Android tablet available in international markets remains to be seen. Information for which we will have to wait.
