Xiaomi Leads Global Wearable Market in Q1 2025

Global shipments of wearable bands hit 46.6 million in the first quarter of 2025. That’s a 13% jump from the same period last year. Xiaomi leads the pack, shipping 8.7 million units and grabbing 19% of the market.

These wearable bands are designed to track health and fitness. They include smart bands and smartwatches. Xiaomi’s growth is impressive, up 44% from last year. The company’s new smart band and watch series, including the affordable Redmi line, are driving sales. The Redmi Band 5 is one of the top-selling wearables of the quarter.

Apple comes in second, shipping 7.6 million units. That’s a 5% increase, giving the company 16% of the market. Huawei takes third place with 7.1 million shipments, up 36%. The company’s Watch GT and Watch Fit are popular. Samsung follows with 4.9 million shipments, up 74%, thanks to strong sales in emerging markets.

Garmin rounds out the top five with 1.8 million shipments, up 10%. The company has 4% of the market.

Canalys studied European consumers to see what drives their smartwatch purchases. Price and battery life are the top factors. Health tracking features are also important, while sports features are less of a priority.

Analysts expect brands to focus on developing wearables that work seamlessly with their ecosystems. Good after-sales service will be key to competing with other brands. Subscription services will also drive consumer interest and revenue for brands.
