First impressions of the Xgimi Halo+
The build quality of this projector is clearly above average. As you can see from the pictures, we have a feeling from the start that this is a well built product and one that will look great in any room that you place it in.
In addition to the ventilation outlet, on the back you have the on/off button, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, a 3.5mm jack port, and a power port. On the front you will find the lens that will transmit your content, and also a small sensor on the bottom, which serves for automatic distortion correction.
At the bottom we have a rubber cover, so that it fits well to any surface on which you place it. It has a support so that you can raise it a bit, and also the entrance so that you can attach it to a tripod, for example.
On the side we have the Harman Kardon symbol, which indicates that the sound of this ‘boy’ is of quality (and it turns out to be so). Inside there are two 5 W speakers, for a total of 10 W. In the upper area you will find an LED light and touch controls for volume or to pause your content on the projector itself.
A word for the command we expect from an Android TV experience. It has a very comfortable handle, and all the necessary buttons to operate the projector with the greatest comfort.

One of the highlights of this projector is the fact that it comes with Android TV installed, based on Android 10. It’s an experience we all know and one that proves to be quite fast and responsive. Its 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage also contribute to this.
Having the Play Store installed means you can install any game or streaming service that is compatible with this projector. The only one you can’t install from the Play Store is Netflix, but in the box you’ll find instructions to do it without problems.

As you can see in the image above, I managed to install both Netflix and HBO or Vodafone TV without any problem. The same thing happened with services like Eleven, F1 TV or YouTube, always without problems.
The intelligence of the projector
As I could prove from my experience, this is a projector that you don’t necessarily have to use facing the wall if you can’t. It has smart screen alignment and keystone correction, which basically allows you to use it, for example, on a nightstand and still have the image as if it were located behind the bed, for example.
In addition, this one can also dodge objects intelligently. Let’s imagine there is an outlet obstructing the back of your content. It automatically avoids that trigger, realizing that this would be noise in your content.
Unsurprisingly, this one also has very accurate autofocus. And in case you feel like you need to tweak it manually, there’s a button at the bottom of the controller that basically allows you to easily toggle between volume and focus controls.
All these customizations are available to you in the projector settings. It should be noted that it has Widevine L1 certification, so you can enjoy Netflix, Disney +, HBO Max or Amazon Prime Video in Full HD resolution.
Image quality and brightness
This is one of the Xgimi Halo+ scrolls. For its price, it offers a good image quality of 1080 FHD, as you can see in the shared images. This makes it suitable for your movie sessions or watching that football game with friends. Support for HDR 10 and MEMC could not be missing.

I can tell you that I have used it in both scenarios, and in both I was quite satisfied. Because it’s portable, I can easily take it from the living room to the bedroom and back to watch my favorite content. Whether it’s a Champions League game or another episode of The Last Of Us on HBO Max.
This has a 1.2:1 throw ratio, for added flexibility. Using it facing the wall, you can vary between 60 inches, at a distance of 1.59 meters, and 120 inches, at a distance of 3.91 meters. Obviously you will be able to play content in 4K without problems, but it will adapt accordingly to its maximum Full HD resolution.
All this is accompanied by a brightness of 900 ANSI lumens. This is more than enough for viewing content in darker rooms, and we agree that you’ll want to use this projector. If you want to use it in places with a lot of light, Xgimi has other options that may be more suitable.
Harman Kardon-quality audio
You don’t expect stunning audio quality from a projector. But considering that this projector’s 10W (5W+5W) speakers were developed by Harman Kardon, you can expect very good audio quality for the size of the projector.
Of course, you cannot expect an immersive experience, which will only be provided by a serious sound system. But for a portable projector, the audio on this Xgimi Halo+ not only lets you down, it’s pretty good.
Possibility to connect external storage or a box
As noted by the existence of the HDMI port on the rear of the projector, this allows you to give it wings. If you’re not satisfied with just using this Android TV, you can connect your operator’s box, an Android box, a Chromecast or an Amazon Fire Stick to it, for example. Needless to say, it has the Chromecast feature built in.
This HDMI port also gives you room to connect a console, like your Nintendo Switch, PS5, or Xbox Series. It is perfectly capable of giving you a more immersive gaming experience than your typical Smart TV.
Using the USB 2.0 port, you can also connect a USB memory or an external drive where you have content. This way, you can easily view your library of movies that you may have on that external hard drive, or view your family photos.
It should be noted that the fan is quite quiet. This means we can enjoy our content without noise, while the projector stays cool and fully operational.
The portability problem
This is “the” strong point of this projector. By carrying a built-in 59,454Wh battery with an autonomy of two and a half hours, it becomes the best friend for those who want portability.
Let’s say you’re going on vacation and you want to play content anywhere – it’s there for you. You want to easily walk him around the house, or even take him out into the garden for a summer movie night, he’s there for you.
And watch that soccer game with friends on a beautiful night while barbecuing? The two and a half hours of battery life are more than enough for you to have a good experience.
Conclusion
So if you’re looking for a portable projector, both in size and functionality, this Xgimi Halo+ might be the projector for you. It is light, its fan is hardly felt and it has a range of two and a half hours without electricity.
Added to all this is an interface we’re all familiar with: Android TV, so you can install your favorite streaming apps. And forget about who tells you that you can’t install Netflix here, since the process is quite simple.
With automatic keystone calibration, autofocus or obstacle avoidance, this is a projector anyone can use. And while you have a better experience when it’s facing the wall or screen, it can be slightly to the side and it adjusts.
As mentioned, the Full HD resolution is enough to play streaming content, play games, or watch your soccer game. But if you want to go further (in 4K, for example), Xgimi has other alternatives.
For low-light environments, the 900 ANSI lumens this projector provides will be more than enough. If you intend to use ambient light, I advise you to look at other options. And it must be said that the audio developed by Harman Kardon in this projector is really good.
Between portability, Android TV, audio quality, and ease of use in any setting, this is a well-rounded portable projector. if you have about €849 spend and you’re looking for such a projector, the Xgimi Halo+ is probably the choice to go for.
