Xbox Series X mini fridge pre-order offends users

What started out as an Internet joke turned out to be a reality.

A few days ago, Microsoft announced that it would start selling its Xbox Series X mini-refrigerator in Spain for a price of €99.

According to the press release, the console could be purchased in Europe at Game Stop EU (€99.00), Micromania (€99.00) or Toynk (via Amazon).

However, a few days later, Microsoft modified its press release and left Toynk as the only option for Spain, also removing any reference to Amazon.

Editor’s Note (October 18): We’ve removed Amazon from this post as the seller of this product and clarified participating retailers. Toynk will sell it directly through its own online store. Please visit the website for the latest details on pre-booking and product availability.

This resulted in the price of the console is no longer €99, but it has increased to €139.95 on the Toynk website to include shipping costs, which represents an increase of more than 40%.

Also, the mini-refrigerator ran out quickly and, according to the website, it will not be possible to book again until January 31st.… Yes, you heard me right, in 3 months.

For all that, the tweet from Xbox Spain in which he announced the launch of the mini-fridge was rife with user criticism.

«Excuse me… what do you mean €139.95? Can this be considered misleading advertising? So much hype for nothing… » claims a user. €139.95 is the price in Toynk. Are you kidding or hitting? What a disappointment… ” comments another.

After this avalanche of indignation messages, Maxi Gräff, Social Lead at Microsoft Germany, tried to smooth the mood with a little tweet: “There will be more in 2022!”
