Xavi clarifies his future at the helm of FC Barcelona

Xavi Hernandez wants to continue being a coach FC Barcelona and he has a contract until June 30, 2024. After the elimination of all European competition, the culé fans began with a runrún, but the good level of the blaugrana club at the national level has dispelled any doubts. Despite the fact that the Champions League resists him, in the League Xavi’s Barça is going like a shot. With a six-point advantage over Real Madrid and with one game less, Xavi Hernández has earned the trust of the board and has spoken about his continuity.

In the press conference prior to the game against Athletic Club in San Mamés, Xavi was asked about his future as coach of FC Barcelona. The Terrasa coach clarified that he is “in talks with the club” and that there is “positivity”. However, he also wanted to emphasize what is the priority between now and the end of the season: “As I always say, the first thing is to win titles, then we’ll see.” With this, the culé reaffirms his desire for victory, which will be reduced to LaLiga and the Copa del Rey, after being eliminated from the Europa League.

Two titles at stake for Xavi

As we commented, the Copa del Rey and LaLiga are the only tournaments in which FC Barcelona is still alive. The Catalan wants to achieve the treble, after winning the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid, and he is getting closer. In the domestic competition, if Barça wins against Athletic, they would be nine points ahead of Madrid with 13 days to go until the end of LaLiga. On the other hand, in the Cup they start with an advantage (1-0) in the second leg at the Camp Nou in the fight to reach the grand final. Winning the two titles that are at stake would mean an automatic renewal for the Barça coach.
