X (Twitter) slows traffic to sites Elon Musk dislikes

X, formerly known as Twitter, started it Slow down traffic to a range of competing websites and social networks like Instagram, Facebook or Threads.

This is common to all affected websites and services It’s the ones that Elon Musk doesn’t like.

Affected websites and services include: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Substack, The New York Times, and Bluesky. X implemented slowdown using its t.co link shortener, which is used to process all links posted on X.

By clicking on a link to one of the affected websitesthere is a noticeable delay of five seconds before the actual website url loads.

A person familiar with Times operations says the news site has seen a drop in X traffic since the delays began.

It’s impossible to know how many sites and services will be affected by X’s new traffic slowdown practice. Musk, of course, harbors personal grudges against countless people and companies.
