Social network X has taken drastic measures to stop the spread of fake images of Taylor Swift.
This controversial action came after artificial intelligence-generated images of explicit sexual content (deep fakes) of Swift went viral and generated on the platform more than 27 million views in just 19 hours.
Since yesterday, Saturday, X searches that contain the text “Taylor Swift” return an error message which indicates: “Posts are not currently loading. Try it again.”
Reflecting on this change in search policy, Joe Benarroch, head of commercial operations at X, explained:
This is a temporary measure and is being taken with extreme caution as safety is our top priority in this matter.
The decision to block searches related to Taylor Swift comes after artificial intelligence-generated images containing explicit sexual content went viral on X and other internet platforms.
