X-Men: James McAvoy draws a line on Charles Xavier but …

After the general fiasco of X-Men: Dark Phoenix from a critical point of view (22% positive reviews on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes) and financial ($ 252 million in revenue for $ 200 million excluding marketing), Disney made a radical choice: to make a clean sweep of the entire universe of X-Men while waiting for a reboot to integrate them into the MCU. However, this new start was never really effective since Marvel entertained the hope of their returns with the real / fake cameo by Quicksilver (Evan Peters) and the announcement of an expected appearance of a famous X-Men (Magneto? Wolverine?) in the highly anticipated Doctor Strange in the multiverse of Madness by Sam Raimi.

In all this Mi’kmaq where no one really spoke (apart from Sophie Turner who confided in wanting to replay Jean Gray), it’s the turn of James mcavoy, who performed the famous Charles Xavier for four films, to talk about his future in the X-Men to Collider. When asked if he was done with the role, his response was drastic:

“I have the impression that it is. I feel like I got to explore, not everything I wanted to explore, because there is always more, sure, but I got to explore a lot of Professor X’s stuff, and I’m quite satisfied what I got from him as a performer. Doesn’t mean I never wanna come back, never say never, but I wouldn’t be desperate if that [son retour] never happens ”

A way to definitely kick in touch even if it seems to translate that Marvel hasn’t approached him yet for any cameo. Either way, the surprise appearance of a X-Men in Doctor Strange 2 can also initiate the introduction of new faces into the MCU who will embody the famous mutants.

For his part, James mcavoy, after a successful stint at Shyamalan with Glass and Split, recently played in My Son by Christian Carion, an English remake of the thriller with Guillaume Canet (2017). He embodies the desperate hunt for a father to find his son, disappeared in the Highlands in Scotland.
