The screenwriter of X-Men, David Hayter, affirm that Marvel studios is developing a reboot of Daredevil.
Daredevil is the famous “Fearless Man” from Marvel Comics, created in 1964 by Stan Lee and Bill Everett. As a child, Matt Murdock went blind in a crash caused by a mysterious chemical spill, which reinforced his other senses, giving him a form of radar. As an adult, Murdock is a lawyer by day and vigilante by night, wearing his red suit and horned mask, under the name Daredevil. A character perfectly transcribed by the Marvel / Netflix production who had an awkward end / pause due to Disney’s desire to want to recover his licenses.
In 2003, Ben affleck starred as Daredevil in his first solo movie, alongside Jennifer Garner, Michael Clarke Duncan and Colin Farrell. In 2015, Daredevil has been adapted as a series on Netflix with Charlie cox in the lead role. The show lasted three seasons before being canceled, leaving the character on stand-by since 2018. Of course, given the end of Spider-Man Far From Home, many rumors have emerged, announcing in particular the return of Charlie cox in his role as a lawyer.
During a speech at MCM London Comic Con (via Small Screen) a few weeks ago, we asked David Hayter, The X-Men screenwriter, which MCU character he would like to play if he were welcomed back by Marvel, his choice fell on Daredevil while stating bluntly that “they reboot Daredevil“. This offhand remark makes it sound like a known fact, but this is the first time the news has been made public. David Hayter clarified that he would like to explore the comic book series Daredevil of Frank Miller. It does not specify whether it is a TV or Cine reboot:
“You know they reboot Daredevil and Daredevil has always been a very important character to me, and I loved the first way they did it. But there are some things that I want to adapt from Frank Miller’s series on Daredevil that really mattered to me. Uh, yeah, I mean, it’s really that one. ”
