World Cup in India next year will promote ODI format, New Zealand head coach claims

Experts are constantly giving their opinion on the future of ODI cricket. Actually, many former cricketers have expressed their fear that ODI cricket will eventually end, but New Zealand men’s team head coach Gary Stead has a different opinion. However, Gary Stead said the 50+ World Cup to be held in India next year will give this format a boost. Recently, many cricketers including Australia’s Usman Khawaja and India’s Robin Uthappa have questioned the future of ODI cricket with the growing T20 leagues around the world.

New Zealand men’s head coach Gary Stead said: “Personally I still like the one-day format. I think it’s a great combination of Test cricket, where you have to go through some tough courses and T20Is. There is also the excitement of cricket and I think the prowess of T20 cricket has taken ODI scoring to another level again.”

Gary Stead said that our team has been very successful in ODI cricket. We have reached the final in 2015 and 2019. He also expressed the hope of a better performance of the team than him in the coming days. It should be noted that the next World Cup (World Cup 2023) will be played in the month of November 2023. India will host the 2023 World Cup. Actually, India had hosted the World Cup over 50 in the year 2011. The Indian team became the winner of that World Cup.
