Women’s Volleyball will defend the title in the Pan American Cup

The current champions of the Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup of the Dominican Republic will be debuting on the 21st of this month against Costa Rica, at the start of the XIX Pan American Cup that will take place in the city of Hermosillo, Mexico.

The next day, the Dominicans will take to the field against the Peru sextet.

On the 23rd, the champions of the past Pan American Games in Peru 2019 will face Puerto Rico.

On the 24th, Marcos Kwiek’s pupils will be free on the calendar and on the 25th they will close their regular round matches against the United States.

The Dominican team is training at full capacity in the Volleyball Pavilion where all its players are integrated.

They would be leaving next Friday for the Aztec city to complete their training prior to the start of the contest.

It is recalled that the Dominican Republic women’s sextet won its fifth gold medal in the history of the Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup in 2021 after beating Mexico in consecutive sets 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-14). .

The Dominican Republic joined the 2005 Cuba team as the only team in history to have gone undefeated in a cup without losing a single set.

It was fitting that in her retirement game Prisilla Rivera shared the Dominicans’ scoring lead with Jineiry Martinez, both with 13 points. Yonkaira Peña and Gaila González contributed 10 and 9 points, respectively.

Samantha Bricio led Mexico with 13 points and Karina Flores contributed 9 points in the loss.
