Women’s team qualifies for Central American Games; Muñoz wins silver

The women’s team qualified for the Table Tennis tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games to be held this year in San Salvador, El Salvador.

In the Guyana Caribbean Championship, which distributed tickets for the multi-sport event in El Salvador, the Dominican Shary Muñoz won the silver medal in women’s singles after losing in the final against the Cuban Daniela Alfonseca.

In the semifinal, Muñoz defeated Olympic tennis player Melani Díaz, from Puerto Rico, 4 sets to 2.

The women’s table tennis team, made up of Eva Brito, Esmerlyn Castro and Yasiris Ortiz, advanced to the semifinal of the qualifying tournament by beating Costa Rica 3-0, as well as Guyana 3-0, and prevailed with the same result. before the representation of Trinidad and Tobago.

In addition to the three athletes, the Dominican delegation was made up of coach Carlos Sosa.

The president of the Dominican Table Tennis Federation (Fedoteme), Dr. Daniel Landrón, stated that the participation of the national team in the qualifier was possible with the support of Creso, the Ministry of Sports and the Dominican Olympic Committee.
