Women’s football: River defeated Ferro and Boca drew with Platense

River Plate beat Ferro this Sunday by 2-0, at home, in the debut of both in the Women’s First Division Soccer Championship, in one of the two matches that were played in the continuity of the first date. The forwards, Ayelén Acuña, at 28 minutes, and Carolina Birizamberri, at 35, scored for the Millionaires, who made their debut with a win in a match played at the River Camp. In this way, River integrates the leading squad of the tournament with 3 points, together with UAI Urquiza and Huracán.

Boca Juniors – current champion of the category – opened the title with a 1-1 draw against Platense, as a visitor, in a match that took place at the Alejandro Mariani Dolán stadium. Belén Marijuan, at 60 minutes, opened the scoring for the Calamares, and Mariana Gaitán, at 67, tied it for the Gladiadoras. The equality placed Boca in sixth place and Platense in seventh, both with 1 point.

In other results of this first date, on Friday Lanús and Estudiantes (Bs As) tied without goals; and El Porvenir drew 2-2 with Estudiantes (La Plata); while on Saturday, Huracán defeated Independiente 1-0; Gimnasia tied 0-0 with SAT and UAI Urquiza thrashed Banfield 4-0. This Monday they play at 5:00 p.m., Belgrano-Excursionistas and Racing-San Lorenzo (DeporTV). On Tuesday they close, at 5:00 p.m., Defensores de Belgrano-Rosario Central (DeporTV).
