Women In Bike and the National Team, united in Navacerrada

The rural hotel Hacienda Los Robles in the Madrid town of Navacerrada has hosted the 4th annual Women In Bike Leadership Meeting on December 3, 4 and 5, in which 50 leaders of the project have participated, in addition to eight cyclists who have formed part of the concentration of the Spanish Elite Highway Team / Sub23.

The project led by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation and sponsored by Movistar has added more than 200 leaders in our country this year and has reached the number of 9,000 left since its inception in mid-2018. Like last year, the Women In Bike leaders present in Navacerrada have been able to share facilities and activities with the cyclists of the national team who were summoned by the coach Gema Pascual in order to prepare for the next season.

On the other hand, it should be noted that the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation has carried out a test to detect the presence of Covid-19 on all participants, as well as on all technical personnel who have participated in the conference, guaranteeing total safety in concentration.

A gymkhana on mechanics, training on technique or motivational talks where an emotional video with the best images of these years has been projected, in addition to recreational activities to form a team such as an “Escape Room”, have been the activities scheduled for these days, without forget, of course, the outings both on mountain bikes and on the road.

“We have gone from the illusion of a project to one that is now done. Above all, this year there has been great growth and it shows that this does not stop. We make this coexistence to unify and unite those leaders who still do not know each other and to be able to work around them “, says Gema Pascual, president of the RFEC Women’s Commission. In womeninbike.com all the information about the project is available.

For her part, the coach has also been leading the group of eight cyclists of the national team who have been carrying out different tests in order to start the next season in the best possible way. Eider Merino, Sara Martín, Ziortza Isasi, Mireia Benito, Mireia Trías, Martina Moreno, Idoia Eraso and Inés Cantera have carried out both incremental tests and strength tests so that the RFEC technicians know first-hand how the runners are and how they are able to plan the next season. In addition to this, the national riders have also been able to participate together with the leaders of Women In Bike in an Escape Room where the main objective was to strengthen the links between cyclists and improve teamwork.

This week, the national team led by Gema Pascual will also focus on Galapagar with several more cyclists to evaluate them for the year 2022.
