Woman arrested for selling 3,000 iPods to needy students

From time to time, school districts across the United States provide computers and other devices to disadvantaged students to help them with their education.

However, a school district employee, Kristy Stock, decided to take these devices and resell them.

According to the Department of Justice, Stock was sentenced to prison after it was discovered that she had stolen some 3,000 iPods initially intended for disadvantaged students. Stock stole the iPods and resold them, with which he won up to $800,000.

Authorities also discovered during the investigation that Stock had filed fraudulent income tax returns, resulting in a tax savings of $270,000.

Apparently, this scheme was carried out in 2013, when he was responsible for a program for the Central Consolidated School District of New Mexico. He shipped the purchase of the iPods to Maryland, where they were later sold on eBay.
