With goals from Messi and Neymar, PSG wins Champions Trophy

Lionel Messi opened the scoring and Neymar scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain beat Nantes 4-0 on Sunday to win the French soccer Champions Trophy.

Messi scored midway through the first half. After receiving a pass from Neymar that the defense managed to deflect, the Argentine star dribbled past goalkeeper Alban Lafont to finish with class.

Neymar scored with a masterful free kick when the first-half stoppage time was in play. The Brazilian striker nailed the ball in the upper left corner.

Christophe Galtier’s team went into the break with a 2-0 lead at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv, the venue for the match between the league and cup champions for the second year in a row.

Veteran defender Sergio Ramos made it 3-0 in the 57th minute with a shot from close range and Neymar sentenced in the 82nd by converting from a penalty after a foul by Jean-Charles Castelletto, who was sent off.

Galtier, who won Lille the league champion against all odds in 2021, already boasts of his first title with PSG. He replaced Mauricio Pochettino after the Argentine’s dismissal.

Antoine Kombouare, who previously managed PSG, led Nantes to their first trophy in 21 years by winning the Coupe de France.
