Microsoft recommends that all Windows users always install the security updates offered as quickly as possible. This closes newly discovered vulnerabilities and fixes errors. But sometimes it is precisely this new update that causes new problems. This also seems to be the case with the current security update KB5030219 for Windows 11. Reports of PC problems are increasing, and the currently popular space role-playing game “Starfield” is also affected.
Update worsens “Starfield” performance
On Reddit and in the feedback hub for Windows insiders, there are increasing complaints about problems that occur after installing update KB5030219. “Starfield” would no longer run properly and the performance would also be worse. However, there is also the assumption that this could be due to Nvidia’s graphics card driver. Interestingly, the problems in “Starfield” should be resolved by removing the security update and will no longer occur afterwards.

Graphics card driver complicity?
The update KB5030219 for Windows 11 should also ensure that the Game Ready driver 537.34 can no longer be found. If Windows Update and the current Nvidia driver were installed on a system at the same time, this would also be reflected in crashes and performance problems.
Lack of internet connection and crashes
But even those who don’t exactly play “Starfield” could have problems with the latest security update: There is talk in forums about crashes (blue screens), a generally sluggish system and applications that can no longer be started. In addition, users report frozen lock screens and missing internet connections.
Uninstalling as an emergency solution
Microsoft has already been informed of the problem and would investigate the matter. Until a customized update is available, affected users will probably only have to uninstall the security update with the number KB5030219. General instructions for removing updates can be found at Microsoft.
